October 27, 2007, Dr Terry Simpson speaks at the Obesity Help event. In this first video segment he tells post-op patients not to expect the Lap-band to think and make your food choices. It can't think. It can't tell you what and how much to eat. The Lap-band will make you feel full with less food for a prolonged period of time. It is the greatest weight loss tool available. But, you must decide to work with it and make the right choices. Successful Lap-band patients weight themselves once a week. This is the measure of how well you are doing. If you are not losing weight then you have to critically look at what you are consuming (not just eating, but drinking, or putting on your salads) to see why you have not lost or why you have gained. The answer is never in whether you have exercised or not. The answer is always that you have consumed calories. |
